PSORIASIS
Psoriasis is one of most obstinate skin diseases to encounter. This disease is characterized by formation of thick silvery itchy patches which result from change in the life cycle of skin cells. Every cell in the body comes to life and dies at a suitable time. Similarly every cell of skin comes to life and dies at its suitable time. But in psoriasis, the speed of death of cells is accelerated, so the ratio of new growth cells and dead cells is disturbed and they tend to accumulate on the surface of the skin (epidermis) which appears thick, dry, scaly and itchy.
Psoriasis so far has been thought to be of auto immune in nature. The T cells which usually attack foreign substances in the body, attack skin cells in individuals suffering from psoriasis.
